Mediacorp unveils fresh shoppertainment concept The Wonder Shop
New content-commerce IP harnesses Mediacorp’s creative expertise and talents to redefine online shopping experience and better engage audiences
Singapore, 10 May 2022 – Mediacorp has launched The Wonder Shop, a bilingual shopping programme slated to debut on meWATCH’s new livestreaming channel, LIVE+ on 17 May. Part of Mediacorp’s efforts to continually evolve with changing audience preferences and needs, The Wonder Shop brings together the creative capabilities and star power of Singapore’s largest content creator to make shopping fun, entertaining and interactive, and offer audiences wider choices and variety. With The Wonder Shop, Mediacorp is also offering clients access to its network, content and talent pool to more deeply engage potential customers and helping retailers to drive sales by leveraging Mediacorp’s unparalleled audience reach.
Hosted by veteran artiste Guo Liang, actor Desmond Ng, YES 933 DJ Hazelle Teo and influencer Karyn Wong, The Wonder Shop aims to deliver an immersive shopping experience, with viewers being able to chat in real-time with the hosts and indulge in games and product giveaways. They can browse featured products in-stream, snag attractive deals on a variety of products, watch product demos and reviews, and pick up useful tips during the live Q&A segment. To make a purchase or get more information on a product, viewers can tap on a button directly within the live video which brings them to the detailed product page.
The Wonder Shop will be the first of several exciting new content-commerce IPs in the pipeline to debut on LIVE+, a new dedicated channel on meWATCH that brings together livestreamed content from Mediacorp into an easy-to-access, one-stop destination. Powered by leading livestreaming solutions provider BeLive Technology, the new LIVE+ channel will provide an interactive viewing experience for the 1.8 million monthly unique video viewers on meWATCH.
Previously, content such as radio talk show segments, Facebook watch parties and virtual press conferences were streamed across each Mediacorp TV channel or radio station’s respective social media platform. Going forward, these will also be made available on LIVE+, giving consumers another convenient way to access their favourite livestreamed content.
