An Established Platform Faces a New Challenge

To increase customer engagement and traffic to the site, Bukalapak decided to add a live weekly trivia show. Trivia games are popular due to their fun and interactive nature, and by adding prizes like rewards points and vouchers, Bukalapak believed that they could generate a lot of interest, draw more people to the site, and keep visitors on the site longer.

Bukalapak already had a well-designed, highly functional website. However, adding live trivia features required some development work beyond the existing site architecture. Bukalapak knew that implementing live trivia is much more complex than it looks. Fortunately, we were able to use our existing framework and develop a custom UI/UX to fit with Bukalapak’s branding. Thanks to BeLive’s experience with live trivia, Bukalapak could count on a solution that would work flawlessly right from the start. They also gained access to value-added features such as advanced analytics, including detailed insights into trivia gameplay and user behaviors.


Although trivia games are popular, getting the most engagement possible requires a greater knowledge of gamification. Bukalapak was aware of this but needed hands-on guidance from an expert in the field. With our experience in developing live edutainment platforms, which included live trivia apps, we were able to implement the latest gamification strategies, such as custom trivia leaderboards that allow players to advance and rise through the ranks. The official Bukalapak channel educates audiences about featured products and sellers through live trivia games, in a fun way that viewers embrace. It revolutionizes the traditional one-way street of online “selling”, where products are displayed for sale, and draws active interest from the audience instead by piquing their curiosity and providing entertainment value.
